I’m Mark Brackenborough, a parent and developer. I’m creating and supporting Spellwell to help my own child practise spelling, and to offer something useful to teachers and families in the wider community.

The idea is simple: teachers choose the words, and children have a friendly place to practise them. A few minutes to look, listen, build or write — without pupil accounts, adverts or extra pressure.

Spellwell is an independent, parent-built project. My aim is to make a small part of the school week easier: less time organising spelling practice, and more time helping children feel confident with their words.

Made for little steps

Look at a word. Build it. Write it. Give it another go. Our activities offer different ways to practise the words a teacher has chosen, without a leaderboard or a race against the clock.

A smaller footprint

No pupil accounts. No advertising. No central learner profiles. Teachers manage shared spelling lists, and children’s practice stays on their device.

British English, clearly labelled

Families across the UK can use their own teacher’s lists. Our initial public spelling resources refer to England’s primary curriculum; we do not claim that curriculum is the same across the UK.
